The Jatun Sacha Foundation in Ecuador offers opportunities for volunteers to participate in research, education, community service, station maintenance, plant conservation, and agroforestry activities. This program is intended to provide practical experience for people interested in contributing to conservation activities and projects. Volunteers work on a variety of projects under the supervision of resident researchers, environmental education instructors, and the management staff of the reserve. 

SITES AVAILABLE IN ECUADOR:

  • Guandera: a high altitude forest in the Andes (3,500 metres)
  • Jatun Sacha: a tropical Amazonian forest
  • Bilsa: a costal, tropical, wet, mountain forest
  • REQUIREMENTS FOR THE PROGRAM:

      Prospective volunteers should have an interest in conservation and related human issues. A University degree is not a prerequisite. 

    FINANCING:

      Volunteers must pay their own expenses, including airfare to Ecuador and living costs while in Ecuador. The cost is US $ 300. This includes lodging, and 3 meals/day for 4 weeks. 

    WORK SCHEDULES:

      Volunteers are expected to work 8 hours a day, 22 days per month. An 8-day vacation to be arranged with project coordinator. 

    DURATION OF INTERNSHIP:

      One month minimum
